Float Therapy offers a convenient way to offer your mind, body and nervous system the rest and recalibration it needs, and the relaxation and calm you deserve.
Our Flourish Float room is a complimentary service available exclusively for Flourish Kirribilli clients attending face to face sessions.

What Is Float Therapy?
A Powerful And Enjoyable Way To Bring A Sense Of Peace And Calm To Your Life.
While there are many ways to ‘switch off’ physical stress (and therapy is a terrific place to learn), Float Therapy is an effortless and fun way to do so!
Floating is a whole-body treatment where you experience buoyancy and a sense of weightlessness, in a reduced sensory environment, allowing you to enjoy a serene state of relaxation and peace. Floating feels like you’re suspended in a warm cloud, relieved of gravity, pressure, or external distractions.
Modern floating has its origins in the 1950’s, when psychiatrists became interested in the psychological benefits of reducing sensory stimulation. Now known as Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST), research has consistently demonstrated that floating greatly reduces stress and increases relaxation. Floating may also reduce blood pressure, heart rate, plasma cortisol, muscle tension, pain, depression, anxiety, and negative mood.

Why Float With Flourish Kirribilli?
All The Benefits Of Float Therapy, Minus Getting Wet And Feeling Claustrophobic
Traditional float tanks require that you get undressed and immerse yourself in water. Our custom-made Flourish Float bed allows you to experience all that floating has to offer, without the inconvenience of getting wet.
The bed is located in a small, quiet room, eliminating the need to encase yourself in a claustrophobic float tank. You can enhance your float therapy session by bringing along your favourite meditations.

The Flourish Float
Our Flourish Float is a glorious 1 hour experience of complete sensory REST. The float bed is set to your body temperature so you’ll feel like you’re floating in a warm, soft hug.
You’ll tune out of the external world and become more aware of your inner experience – your heartbeat, your breath. This restorative float allows you to achieve a deeply meditative state which is intimately connected to your own inner awareness.
Allow yourself to relax and let your mind wander completely.

What To Expect During A Dry Float Therapy Session
In the Flourish Float bed you are protected from the water by a warm, water-filled membrane, giving you a completely safe, hygienic, and convenient experience. The water is heated to match your body temperature.
You can float in complete darkness, or choose to have a small light source.
You can float in silence, or bring your own device and play soothing sounds – relaxation, your favourite meditation, brown or white noise, or sounds you love (like rain, or birds).
The unique combination of resting in the Flourish Float bed, in a quiet, dark (or dimly lit) space, allows your body’s sensorimotor system to relax.
Floating like this allows your brain to take a break from the hard work of tracking things like temperature, gravity, and body position, so you can drift into a liminal (sleep like) state. You may even fall asleep!


1. How To Book Your Float
On the day of your appointment, simply add your name to the list which is on the reception desk. You can choose your preferred time.
There is a maximum of one hour per session and a one session per day limit. Sessions are available on a first come, first served basis each day.
While we make every effort to accommodate everyone, the float room may not always be available at your preferred time.
Session availability depends on the presence of staff, which varies each day.


2. In The Float Room
The float is more enjoyable if you wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothes.
Before floating, remove all jewellery, watches and items with sharp edges, like belts.
Remove your shoes for your float, but please remain clothed.
There is no eating, drinking, vaping or smoking allowed in the float room.


3. Drift Away - But Remember to Come Back!
It’s easy to lose track of time in the peaceful cocoon of our Float room.
We strongly advise setting an alarm at 50 minutes so you can gently prepare yourself to come back to the world.
Head back into your day in a state of calm serenity and enjoy a lasting sense of relaxation.
Flourish Float FAQ
How long are the dry float therapy sessions?
The float room is available for a maximum of 60 minutes. One session per day is available for clients of Flourish Kirribilli who have a face to face session booked with a practitioner on that day.
We recommend setting an alarm at 50 minutes to ensure you exit the room by the 60 minute deadline.
What should I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You’ll be required to take off your shoes, jewellery and anything sharp before your float.
What if I am claustrophobic?
Our float room is the size of a small bedroom with a standard ceiling height. The Flourish Float bed has no enclosed ‘lid’, you’ll be floating on the equivalent of a king single bed.
What do you do after a float session?
After your float, allow yourself some time to soak in the experience and transition back into the world. You’re welcome to lounge in our comfortable, tranquil waiting area.
Is the room completely dark?
During your float, you can choose to float in complete darkness or have our small moon night light switched on. There’s also an option for you to choose dim lighting – whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Ideally, the less light, the less sensory stimulation and you’ll be able to enjoy the full benefits.
What is the weight limit for the Flourish Float?
The Flourish Float has been designed to accommodate most body sizes comfortably. The float bed has been custom-made with an upper weight limit of around 210kg.
Is there anything I should avoid before my Float session?
It is advisable to limit the consumption of caffeine prior to your Float, as this can stimulate you, making relaxation more difficult. No alcohol use is permitted prior to using the float.
